Flooded Bunker

Bryce here! Good job in the previous Bunker! You’re becoming a tremendous Lightglider. I have another mission for you. We’ve found another Bunker that creates Machines, this time underneath the big lake in the Yonders. The Machines there will be alerted to your presence, so stay sharp! Remember, different Gliddles are better at battling some Machines than others, so pay attention to the colors of the Machines and your Gliddles! Right-click to swap your active Gliddle!

Hey there! Welcome to Lightgliders. My name is Kwan, and it’s my job to make sure you’re outfitted, trained, and ready for action. As we have learned over the last few months, the Lightgliders goals, values, mission, and leaders exist to point to the Far Greater Story of God's love for us revealed in the Bible. When we grow as Lightgliders, we will shine in the world around us and point others to the Far Greater Story as well!

This week we are reminding our amazing community just what it means to be a Lightglider! So, whether you are new to Lightgliders or have been in the Academy for a while, I encourage you to pay close attention.  

‍

Lightgliders are defenders of good. We are a team that shines light in the darkness and helps out those in need. And, right now, the land of Glideon needs us! For unknown reasons, a mysterious gooey substance called blight is spreading all over the land. At the same time, strange Machines have appeared and are kidnapping lovable creatures called the Gliddles! It’s up to us to go on missions to clear away the blight and rescue the Gliddles from the Machines!

‍

Being a Lightglider is a purposeful adventure. As you engage in all there is to do in the Academy and throughout the Yonders, you will have opportunities to learn about the greatest adventure there is–to know, grow in, and show God’s love.

‍

In time, you’ll learn more than just skills for battle and adventure. You’ll learn about the Far Greater Story found in the Bible, the story about the God who loves you more than you could possibly imagine.  As Lightgliders, we seek to RESPECT, RESCUE, and RESTORE every day because that is what God has done and is doing for us, in us, and through us.  You were made to use what He has given you to help a world in need.  You were made to shine!

Blighted Grassland

It’s Tambika, calling on you again to take on a new mission! We’re sending you into the Grasslands, a sprawling area that’s filled with blight and Machines. Keep your wits about you and be on the lookout for secret areas! And check out that cool speedboat in the water; who do you think brought that to the Grassland?

We’ve picked up several hidden areas with our sensors. Look for these around fences, grates, and doors and you might find a ton of treasures!

Hey Lightgliders!

We have learned what it looks like to be a role model and to be faithful with how God has uniquely made us. So now we want to look at “impact,” which is the influence we have on the world. As you share God’s love with others, you will have a great impact. God has created you with unique strengths and gifts! And, according to this week’s theme verse, He has planned good things for you to do with your life. These good things will impact the world in a positive way. I hope that as you go on missions, play games, or watch videos in Lightgliders, you discover what you are passionate about, what you are good at, and what gifts others see in you.  And as you continue to KNOW and GROW in God’s love, you will SHOW others that life with Him is an amazing adventure!

Timberlands Camp

Welcome back, Lightglider! Tambika here. I have another mission for you! You’re heading to a strange camp in the Timberlands. This mysterious place has pools, gardens, trees...it might be beautiful, if it weren’t for all the blight there! Help rescue the Gliddles by restoring the land and the trees in the area. Make sure to be strategic with your RES--only grab RES orbs when you have already used a lot of RES!

FAITHFULNESS

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

We’ve been talking quite a bit about the character qualities that our Lightglider leaders display in their lives! We can look up to them and imitate the unique ways they lead, serve, and seek out God’s wisdom! Now you get to take a look at YOURSELF! One of the greatest character qualities for Lightgliders to grow in is faithfulness. The word “faithful” means to be true, steadfast, and loyal. As Lightgliders, we want to be faithful to God and to how He has uniquely made us.

‍

How has God made you unique? What does it look like to be faithful to Him as you use your unique gifts, talents, and personality for His glory? God is the greatest example of faithfulness. He has been, and will always be, fully faithful to His promises that we read in the Bible. As you are faithful, God’s character will be on display through you!

‍

Can you think of examples of faithfulness? Here are a few that I thought of for when I am in Lightglider Academy:

• Taking care of and decorating my Treehouse so that the Gliddles have a beautiful place to live

• Sending Postcards to other Lightgliders to encourage them

• Using Boosts on other Lightgliders to help them on their Yonders missions

• Partnering with the Gliddles to battle the Machines more effectively

And here are a few for when I am in my home:

• Following through on what I say I am going to do

• Doing what my parents ask of me

• Using my words to encourage others

• Taking time to pray to the One who is faithful to me

Archer is a great example of what it means to be a Lightglider. He always obeys the rules of chat, respects fellow Lightgliders, is kind and silly, and fun to be around. Way to go, Archer!

Neglected Institute

Bryce here! I’ve pinpointed the location of an abandoned Institute. It’s full of Machines that we have to battle, as well as Gliddles we need to rescue! 

Be careful roaming those halls--our sensors show that there are giant Machines inside. Team up with Gliddles and battle hard! Remember, if a Gliddle gets tired, the next Gliddle will take its place as your battle partner. Right-click to switch Gliddles on the fly. Maybe you want to conserve a Gliddle’s energy, or maybe you’ll want to use the right Gliddle for the job!

There seems to be an interconnected door system in the Institute. Unlocking one door will unlock many others! Be on the lookout for door switches and out-of-place grates!

Hey everybody, I am Santiago! I try to bring life to the Lightglider Academy party! I cannot tell you HOW MUCH FUN it is to be alive today. And I cannot tell you how great it is to be a Lightglider. You know what our goals are, right? RESPECT. RESCUE. RESTORE.

‍

I believe that to RESTORE includes bringing joy to people who need it. Sometimes through laughter. Sometimes through music. Sometimes through just hanging out and being friendly. Everyone is totally unique, so it can be difficult to know what will bring joy to another. I make it my goal to find out. Do you know what brings you joy? I would love to know!

‍

I grew up in Honduras in a large house with a bunch of other boys. None of us were related but they are my brothers. We’ve been through a lot together. Do you know what brings me joy? People. Having people to talk to, hang out with, and care for is the greatest. I hope you find that here at Lightglider Academy.

Ok, one more joke. Did you hear about the famous pickle? He was a big dill!

WAHOO!!!

Thistle has really stepped up as a shining star in Lightglider Academy. She welcomes new Lightgliders, gives gifts & tours, and is really good at answering questions about how to play and enhance your character. Thistle was also nominated by fellow Lightgliders for sending "extraordinary" postcards, giving boosts, making people happy, having a "breathtaking" Treehouse, and apologizing when she is wrong. In fact, fellow Lightgliders compared her to Nisha, quietly helping and serving others in the background. Way to set the example of what it means to be a Lightglider, Thistle! 

Snowdrop has been a Lightglider for about one month. When she first joined, she was happy to meet new friends, play games, and explore the Academy. She asks great questions and is super nice and sweet to everyone she meets. Way to be a shining example, Snowdrop!

Purple Mountain

It’s Nisha again, and I have a new mission for you. Purple Mountain is infested with Machines and blight, and it’s up to you to restore the mountain to its original majesty! 

Some Machines are trapped in the blight themselves! It’s easier to battle them while they can’t move around, so wait to clear the blight until after the Machines are defeated. Remember to clear blight before you grab the extra RES they drop! If most of your Gliddles get tired, bring them to a Zipway so that they can come to Lightglider Academy and rest.

Our scouts say that Purple Mountain is full of secret areas! Some of them lead to even more powerful Machines and many treasures, so stay alert and look out for open doors, grates, and fences!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

My name is Tova. I was one of the first leaders here at Lightglider Academy. Why? I saw the Gliddles in trouble and I wanted to help. My heart was burdened and I had to come. It really didn’t take a lot of thought or planning. Before I knew it, Bryce sent me on a mission to the Yonders.  

‍

I was born and raised in the United Kingdom. Growing up, I always enjoyed meeting new people and striking up conversations. I realized that many people are hurting, so I made it my mission to be a source of healing and encouragement. I care deeply for the poor, for orphans, and for those who are lonely. Who do you care deeply for?

‍

I like to think of each day as a new opportunity for a purposeful adventure. You never know what new friend or significant moment awaits you! So be on the lookout, and care for those you encounter.

Timberlands Treetops

Hey, Lightglider! It’s Bryce. Our next mission is to head back to the Timberlands and explore the treetops! There are lots of dangerous Machines up there, but I know you’ll battle them with ease!

A great tactic to deal with faster Machines is to “kite!” When a Machine charges you, start slowly backing away, firing behind you as you go. The Machine will try to chase you, but they won’t be able to catch you. It’s like you’re stringing along a kite behind you!

Use this tactic on many of the smaller Machines. You’ll come out on top! Glide on!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

My name is Marlon. You’ll usually find me hanging out in the Library at Lightglider Academy. I am from the United States and I love doing two things - reading books and working out. It’s important to exercise the mind and the body. I am often considered the more “brainy” of the Academy leaders. I investigate any new idea before believing it or acting on it. That’s why I was the last to join the Academy leaders. I had to make sure that rescuing Gliddles and clearing blight were the right things to do. Usually when we are thinking of others before ourselves, it is the right thing to do. But I had to make sure that the consequences of these actions were good, and not just their intention.  

‍

I am passionate about discovering truth. We are in a world filled with many ideas competing for our attention. Ideas are either helpful or hurtful to others, ourselves, or the world around us. My dream for you is that you learn to tell the difference between a good idea and a bad one. This understanding is where wisdom is found. 

‍

I encourage all Lightgliders--search hard for truth. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. And focus on the most important questions, the ones that have the greatest impact on your life and the world around you. Two thousand years ago a man named Jesus claimed to be God and said that whoever believes in him would receive eternal life. People believed him at the time and still do to this day. I encourage you to investigate the truth about Jesus. In Matthew 16:15, Jesus asks the most important question ever. He says, “Who do you say that I am?” Take time to answer this question. After I investigated Jesus, I found the key to wisdom.

Machine Bunker

Hey there! My name’s Bryce, and I’m the head of missions here at Lightglider Academy. I love to save Gliddles from the Machines, so my mission for you is to take on the Machines where it’ll hurt them most! We’ve discovered the location of a Machine Bunker, where Machines are made and sent out into the Yonders. We need to shut this factory down! 

There are lots of Machines in there, so stay alert! Remember, your defense systems can fire automatically, so concentrate on dodging enemy attacks while you battle Machines. Some Machines are programmed to guard doors and hallways. They have lots of armor, but they’re very slow. Stop at a safe distance and you’ll whittle them down!

Go get ‘em!  I’ll be rooting for you!

Hey Lightgliders!

My name is Nisha. I am one of the “quieter” Lightgliders. You may not notice me and I don’t mind that at all. You can make a powerful impact on the world without anyone ever knowing your name!

‍

I was born and raised in India. Being the oldest of seven kids, I had a lot of responsibility with my brothers and sisters. They needed me to be consistent and caring. Do you have siblings? Having little brothers and sisters has taught me a lot about what it means to give without expecting much in return. I came to Lightglider Academy a bit nervous. There were so many big personalities and talented people here. Bryce is courageous. Tambika leads the Academy. Marlon is a genius. I didn’t know what I had to offer, so I just looked for ways to serve. I helped Bryce plan out Yonders missions in Mission Control. I assisted Kwan as he created new tech in the Innovation Lab. I worked with Tambika to organize new Treehouses for the Gliddles. One day Tova thanked me for doing the little things that seemed to go unnoticed. She said, “Nisha, you are so effective at making others effective! You increase the positive impact of those around you. And, for that, I say thank you!”

I guess I am learning that the little things make a big difference. It brings me joy to serve. Putting the needs of others before my own helps me to be humble and encourage others all at the same time!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

Hi, I’m Kwan. I was born and raised in South Korea. I have always been curious and inventive. And I like to work behind the scenes. My biggest passion at Lightglider Academy is to figure out the blight problem. That dark ooze is destroying the land and taking away its beauty and purpose. Have you seen it yet on one of your missions? Thankfully, we can use our light to clear the blight. But, I want to find a permanent solution. That is my goal.

‍

I usually hang out in the Innovation Lab. Feel free to come visit me there. I work closely with the Gliddles to invent things that can help -- better gliders, new technologies, stuff like that. To solve problems, we need to be creative and we need to work together!

‍

I don’t like to be the center of attention but that doesn’t mean I can’t make a powerful impact on the world. I work behind the scenes to help Tambika run the Academy, assist Bryce on missions, and support each Lightglider in the mission to Respect, Rescue and Restore. I have discovered ways to use my unique gifts to help others. I’ve learned that a great way to develop friendships is to be a friend to others and to look for ways to serve them. When we work with our friends, using our unique gifts, we can accomplish great things while building a wonderful community!

It’s Kwan again! I wanted to give you some tips for taking on this mission. We’re sending you back into the abandoned building where lots of Machines have taken up residence. There’s a defense jammer installed there, so if you don’t have a Gliddle with you, you won’t be able to battle Machines! You have to use your wits and careful gliding to get you out of some sticky situations!

There’s a powerful Machine at the end of the mission. Concentrate on avoiding its blasts and let the Gliddles you find do their work!

Hey Lightgliders!

I’m Bryce, one of the leaders at Lightglider Academy! Professor Watts had asked me to tell you a little about myself and to share with you one of my character qualities that stands out. Well, I’m from Australia. I am passionate about doing courageous things, such as going on missions to the Yonders, shining light in the darkness, and sharing truth with my friends. I’m not afraid to go and try to make an impact. Living for something greater than ourselves is the secret to living a life of purpose. It’s not always easy, but it does make life an adventure!

‍

One of my most admirable character qualities is bravery. That simply means I live with courage! No matter what I am facing, I know that God loves me and is with me. This motivates me to be brave and to never give up.

If you seek to learn new things and to make a difference in the lives of others, you will have to be brave. You will have to face new challenges with courage.  What is going on in your life right now that requires bravery?  I encourage you to face it and persist!

Hey, it’s Bryce! Are you ready to take on the Machines once again? We’re sending you to the Timberlands Approach, an area infested with Machines! Rescue the Gliddles there and get ready to battle!

Watch out for Machine attacks, especially from the blue Machines! Their blasts are very powerful. If you get hit too much, you’ll lose a chunk of armor and have to start back at the last checkpoint!

Be careful out there, and remember to keep an eye out for secret grates!

Hey Lightgliders!

Jabari yako rafiki! That means ‘How are you my friend?’ in Swahili. I’m Tambika. I manage Lightglider Academy while Professor Watts is away. Running this place isn’t easy, but it is rewarding. I try to meet all the new Lightgliders when they arrive in the Courtyard. That is a fun part of my job!

I was born and raised in Tanzania. Do you know where that is? It is a beautiful country in Africa. Growing up, I always looked for leadership positions in my school and community. I love to serve others through organization. I love plans. I love calendars. I love details. And all of these things are important at Lightglider Academy. Otherwise, everything would be more chaotic than it already is!

I encourage you to use your gifts to serve others. We need people in this world with all types of gifts and talents. No matter how you are gifted, always remember that being a leader means serving others first. This is called servant leadership.
