It’s Kwan again! I wanted to give you some tips for taking on this mission. We’re sending you back into the abandoned building where lots of Machines have taken up residence. There’s a defense jammer installed there, so if you don’t have a Gliddle with you, you won’t be able to battle Machines! You have to use your wits and careful gliding to get you out of some sticky situations!

There’s a powerful Machine at the end of the mission. Concentrate on avoiding its blasts and let the Gliddles you find do their work!

Don’t forget to check for secret areas; the overgrowth in the building might have opened up new pathways!

Well, hello there, new Lightglider! I'm Tova and I am here to tell you that YOU were uniquely MADE TO SHINE.

‍

You are unique. That means that there is no one like you!

‍

You were made. That means that you were not an accident!

‍

You can shine. That means that you can positively impact others through your words and actions!

‍

In honor of being unique, I want to tell you that you can change your outfits in Lightgliders at a moment's notice. If you are in the Academy just click on your profile picture to change outfits, hats, gliders, and even your look.

Also, if you ever receive a mystery code, you'll want to enter it into your Academy profile to get a helpful prize. You may want to ask your parent or group leader if any new mystery codes have been sent out this week. They'll find them in our weekly emails. Also, for every month that you're a Lightglider, you receive a special glider! Ask your parent or group leader for the code that comes in the monthly milestone emails!

In Glider Gear you can buy new outfits and gift new items to friends. As you earn light and collect gold on your missions and adventures, you will be able to buy the outfits you want. You can also play games and watch videos outside of the Academy to earn light and level up! Marlon will talk about that later!

Sometimes moderators will give out free gear at parties, which is always fun!

‍

Every Lightglider has a very special name. Have you checked out the leaderboards for any games? There you can see the names of the players who have scored the highest in those games!

‍

Remember, you were made to shine. The way we do that in Lightgliders is by pursuing three goals - RESPECT, RESCUE, and RESTORE. Watch these video to learn ways to pursue these goals.

There's lots to explore in Lightglider Academy! There are many objects around the Academy you can click on to discover games and videos to play!

Click on another Lightglider to add them as a friend! You can have as many friends as you want.

Check out the calendar on the Lightgliders website and be on the lookout for daily alerts when you log in to discover community events! They are held daily and the moderators love hanging out with you!

Hi friend! I’m Nisha. Thank you for being here. You have joined a large community of unique and special people. And you will make a major impact as a Lightglider. One way you do this is by building and decorating a treehouse where rescued Gliddles can live. Just outside the Academy campus are beautiful trees. Go there by clicking on your map and clicking Treehouse. You can decorate your very own treehouse with decorations you've bought. To decorate, drag and drop decorations from your inventory. You can purchase more decorations at Tree Mart in Lightglider Academy. Click on the map to find Tree Mart. Watch the tutorial below to learn more.

Once you've finished decorating your treehouse, you can check out other Lightgliders' treehouses! Just click on them and select "View Treehouse." Then you can see how they decorated their treehouses and maybe get inspired for yours! You can also visit your friends list to view their treehouses!

Hey Lightglider! I'm Bryce! Have you gone on a mission to the Yonders yet? Each one is filled with purposeful adventure! You will rescue Gliddles, battle Machines, clear the blight, protect the Academy, and restore the land of Glideon. Also, be on the lookout for our beloved Professor Watts. He founded Lightglider Academy, but mysteriously disappeared.

I want to equip you today to battle the Machines and rescue the Gliddles. Your armor is equipped with automatic defenses, which allow you to battle the Machines that you encounter on your missions to the Yonders!

Be sure to pick up Gliddles where you can! Their light powers help battle the Machines as well! Each Gliddle has a different power to help you!

Hi! My name is Tambika and I'm here to guide you first-timers around Lightglider Academy! Remember playing the tutorial? In it, you used your mouse or tapped the screen to glide around. In Lightglider Academy, it's no different!

But why are you here? You were chosen as a Lightglider and transported here to help us RESPECT, RESCUE, and RESTORE. Lightglider Academy needs to be fortified and we need your help. The land outside of the Academy is called the Yonders and it is full of danger! Scary Machines roam the land seeking to kidnap the native creatures called the Gliddles, and blight is spreading all over the land of Glideon.

But you can help!

By battling these Machines and looking for those lost, we can RESCUE the kidnapped Gliddles and RESTORE the land!

Hey there! Welcome to Lightgliders. My name is Kwan, and it’s my job to make sure you’re outfitted, trained, and ready for action. And that starts with you learning just what a Lightglider is!

Lightgliders are defenders of good, a force made up of individuals just like you that shine in the darkness and help out those in need. Right now, the land of Glideon is in need!

‍

For unknown reasons, a mysterious gooey substance called blight is spreading all over the land. At the same time, strange Machines have appeared and are kidnapping lovable creatures called the Gliddles! It’s up to us to go on missions to clear away the blight and rescue the Gliddles from the Machines!

‍

Being a Lightglider is a purposeful adventure. As you play, you will have opportunities to learn about the greatest adventure there is--to know God and to grow in His love for us.

‍

If you are here in Lightgliders on a computer, click “Enter Lightglider Academy” to access the full Lightgliders experience. You’ll battle Machines, rescue Gliddles, clear blight, meet other Lightgliders, and much more.

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

Have you ever wondered why you do the things that you do? I was recently challenged to stop and consider the motivations behind each of my words and actions. Wow, this was challenging! It’s amazing how many of my daily decisions are motivated by selfishness. Often I choose to do what I want to do. I spend my time how I want to spend it. Sometimes I even do or say nice things just so I can look good to those around me. Sometimes I get annoyed with people and say things out of anger. Every so often I do something out of genuine love and concern for others. And I want that to happen more often!

‍

I am learning that the more I think about God’s’ love for me, the more I am motivated to love others. I really want to do things each day out of a heart that is filled with love. This is what Jesus did. You can read about Him in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. 

‍

I’m not there yet, but I am trying! Pray and ask God to make love the motivation of your heart. And pray this for me too!

Emerald Fields

Hello, I’m Nisha! I serve in a lot of places at Lightglider Academy, but I mostly try to help the other leaders handle the blight problem in the Yonders. And this mission is all about restoring the land! The Emerald Fields in the Yonders are usually so beautiful, but they’ve been taken over by blight. My tip for you is to open up enough room in the blight so that you can dodge Machine attacks. The Emerald Fields are home to many green Gliddles, and to use their power correctly, you’ll have to get up close to Machines! Patience is the key to defeating Machines and clearing blight. Remember, if you run out of RES, come back to Lightglider Academy and give out Boosts to recharge!

I’ve heard that there’s a Machine that’s very hard to get to… Maybe the fences in this area don’t extend the whole way around the Fields?

Hey Lightgliders!

Faith is a word you may hear quite a bit among people who go to church. To have faith means to trust and believe. We all practice faith on a daily basis. If you sit down in a chair, you trust and believe in that chair, that it will hold you up when you sit down! Faith in Jesus is similar. It means that our trust and belief is in Him and what He did for us on the cross. We can live with confidence and joy because our faith is in the only One who can rescue us from sin, evil, and death. And, according to our theme verse this week, the reward for our faith in Jesus is salvation. Jesus saves us from sin and death, and gives us eternal life. This is good news!

Machine Bunker

Hey there! My name’s Bryce, and I’m the head of missions here at Lightglider Academy. I love to save Gliddles from the Machines, so my mission for you is to take on the Machines where it’ll hurt them most! We’ve discovered the location of a Machine Bunker, where Machines are made and sent out into the Yonders. We need to shut this factory down! 

There are lots of Machines in there, so stay alert! Remember, your defense systems can fire automatically, so concentrate on dodging enemy attacks while you battle Machines. Some Machines are programmed to guard doors and hallways. They have lots of armor, but they’re very slow. Stop at a safe distance and you’ll whittle them down!

Go get ‘em!  I’ll be rooting for you!

As Lightgliders, we seek to respect, rescue, and restore! Hopefully, you know that by now. But do you know why we do these things? Because of the love that was shown to us by Jesus on the cross! We value love here. Love motivates each of these goals. We want it to motivate everything we do in life. That’s why it is one of our core values. When we love, we put the needs of others ahead of our own. Unfortunately, our selfishness will continue to try to rule our thoughts and motivations, so we need to be continually reminded to love. The best reminder for me to love is to remember what Jesus did on the cross. He did that for me. And because He chose to love me when I didn’t deserve it, I remember to be grateful and motivated to love others.

What does it look like to love the people in your life?  Do you offer words of encouragement? Do you serve, give gifts, write notes, smile, hug, share, or listen? There are lots of ways to love others. Love energizes any atmosphere.

Timberlands Approach

Hey, it’s Bryce! Are you ready to take on the Machines once again? We’re sending you to the Timberlands Approach, an area infested with Machines! Rescue the Gliddles there and get ready to battle!

Watch out for Machine attacks, especially from the blue Machines! Their blasts are very powerful. If you get hit too much, you’ll lose a chunk of armor and have to start back at the last checkpoint!

Be careful out there, and remember to keep an eye out for secret grates!

THE CROSS

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

Did you know that the Far Greater Story is not a fairy tale or a myth? All we have talked about over the last few weeks--Creation, Rebellion, Redemption, and Restoration--is absolutely true. It was proven true by an event that we can investigate--the death and resurrection of Jesus. 

‍

Think about that. Something happened in human history that proves that the story of God’s love for you is true.

‍

As a refresher, here are all the parts of the story:

• Creation tells us how this world and our lives became a reality. God created.

• Rebellion explains why there is evil, suffering, and death in this world. It is because we all have rebelled against God. This is called sin. It has destructive consequences.

• Redemption shares how Jesus defeated sin and death through the cross event and purchased our lives back. He made a way for us to be saved.

• Restoration gives us insight into why the future is bright. Jesus will restore all that is broken, and God will live with His people forever.

• The Cross event proves that this is no fairy tale. The Far Greater Story is true. God’s love for you is real and He wants to have a relationship with you. 

Christianity rests upon this event at the cross. If Jesus did not die on a cross and come back to life, then our faith in Him is only wishful thinking. But the truth is that He did die. He was buried in a tomb and He rose again, defeating death and conquering sin on our behalf. This is what we call the Gospel. Gospel simply means “good news,” and the good news is that Jesus is our Savior. Because of Him, we can be forgiven and live in relationship with God forever. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to dive into what this means for our lives!

River Journey

Tambika here, with another mission for you! This time you’ll be clearing the blight and rescuing the Gliddles near the River. After your success in the Waterfall area, I’m sure you’ll do great!

Responsibility

Hey Lightglider!

This week we wrap up our unit on Restoration by talking about RESPONSIBILITY. God will restore all things one day, and while we wait, we can work to help restore the world around us by the way we steward our lives and take responsibility for our actions! Responsibility is a big word that can be carried out in lots of small ways. To be responsible means that we are trustworthy in our actions and our words. Therefore, we are to do the very best we can in everything that we do and with everything we have been given. This includes our schoolwork, homework, friendships, extracurricular activities, and even the time in our day. It starts with the little things like cleaning up after yourself or doing your chores, but it can lead to big things like overseeing Lightglider missions to the Yonders and other activities at your school or church. In what ways do you show yourself to be a responsible person? I try to show it through my work in the Innovation Lab. I seek to do the best that I can with what I have. I know that being responsible in the little things leads to greater responsibilities to come. Please remember this!
