“But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus.” - Luke 24:1-3 (NLT)
This week we look forward to Easter Sunday - the day that Christians all over the world celebrate Jesus Christ rising from the grave! We call this the resurrection. This historical event is what sets Christianity apart from all other religions. It is the foundation for Christian faith and hope. When Jesus rose from the grave, he defeated sin and death. This ultimate act of love saves us from our sin, rescues us from brokenness, and gives us new life!
When the women showed up at the tomb they found it empty, just as Jesus said it would be. We look forward to the day he returns and restores us fully, just as he said he would!
What is the resurrection so important?
